Prerequisites: attending and / or promoting the following subjects: no prerequisites

2.Objectives of Subject

-          For courses

Computer networks structures, analysis, design, operation and management concepts and methods are studied. Open systems and OSI/ISO levels. Usual communication technologies in physical level, link level, MAC level and network level with their protocols are presented. Addressing with Internet Protocol in INTERNET. Transport level principles with his protocols. Quality of services, TCP protocol and TCP/IP stack. Session, presentation and application levels. Congestion and deadlock. Software for computer networks.

  -          For applications

Practical laboratory works accommodate students with system software dedicated to communication between connected computers. Domain, groups and user are administrated in Windows and Linux operating systems. Distributed resource management in operating systems. Linux system as router is configured and administrated as INTERNET access point.

3.Specific Competencies

Facilitate apprehension about standardized ISO/OSI open system concepts in computer networks and in distributed applications, in network dedicated computer hardware and software.

Accommodate with common protocols in computer networks and offer unitary view for performance evaluation of communication means.

Build a solid base for Internet applications apprehension.
